Included are transport to the nearest hospital and immediate approved emergency transfer to Glens Falls, Albany or Burlington which have capabilities to handle the patients' needs. Helicopter services are also used on distant transfers. On occasion we are asked to provide long distance transports out of our normal area, which have not been medically necessary, nor payable by insurance. We do not have sufficient manpower or equipment for these kinds of transports and cannot put ourselves and the rest of our community in serious jeopardy to provide such service. . . In addition, the product "will not adversely affect the aquatic environment. SONAR allows desirable native vegetation to establish a habitat for fish and aquatic organisms." EPA registered SONAR in 1986 and it has never had its registration suspended. Unlike other herbicides SONAR has no restrictions on water use after application. Swimmers can still swim, fishermen can still fish and the water remains drinkable.
There have been many published studies on SONAR. They may easily be obtained from the EPA: Erroneous statements such as "using SONAR would be putting the health of Lake George residents in jeopardy" are not only inflammatory and totally inaccurate, but also represent harmful sources of misinformation.
