English Tea Room Open In Moriah Corners
I have it from a very reliable source that the Cottage Tea Room in Moriah Corners is a most charming place to spend a summer afternoon. It is done in the style of an English tearoom, with tables indoors and out. For $10.00 one is treated to scones (with Devon or clabbered cream, finger sandwiches, cookies, cakes and pastries, a variety of teas and a charming hostess who makes the Cottage Tearoom a wonderful place to visit. Plan to spend some time there. There are also baked goods for sale and a unique gift shop to browse. Reservations are suggested. Call 546-3513.
To get there, travel to Port Henry, turn left at the circle, up the hill, past the high school (on the left), continue a bit further and take a left towards Moriah Corners. The Cottage Tea Room is in a restored house a short distance on the left.

Reduced Price Bike Helmets
Every day in the U.S. one child dies and 50 suffer permanent brain damage from bicycle accidents. Head injuries account for about one third of the emergency room visits of children, two thirds of the hospitalizations and three quarters of the deaths. The use of bike helmets reduces the chance of head injury by 85%.
You can get a good helmet for only a few dollars, as little as $10, plus shipping and handling. Prudential Healthcare and Troxel, a leading manufacturer of helmets have created a program to make protection easily available to adults and children. For more information call 1-800-694-3258.
Fire Department Reports Loss
All four chafing pans which the HVFD uses for serving hot meals are missing from the Community Center pantry. These are long rectangular pans, which are used as liners. It is indeed unfortunate that someone has found it necessary to remove these from the kitchen. Perhaps you have just "borrowed" them and will return them immediately. We certainly hope so!! If anyone can solve this mystery, please contact Joan Belden.
