Soundings

Died: Martin A. Fisher, 85, in Grand Isle, VT on August 7, 1998. Surviving are his wife Esther and daughter Esther, both of Grand Isle. The Fishers were residents of Hague for some time. Mrs. Fisher taught in the Hague Central School and Martin was a captain on steamboats on Lake George and Lake Champlain.

    Eighth Grade Promotion Exercises

    On June 23 the Ticonderoga Middle School held its promotion exercises. The following Hague students will now begin their high school careers in September: John Costello, Joshua Dabroski, Lucas Frasier, Peter Mack, Angela Mascarelli, Joee Plass, Alison Rutkowski, Becky Ryder, Theodore Santaniello, Brandon Trudeau, Tyler Wells.

    Bruce Tamlyn, Silver Bay, was installed on August 9 at Silver Bay Auditorium as a pastor in the United Church of Christ, by the Essex Association of the United Church of Christ. At the same time, he was installed as chaplain of the Silver Bay Association. Dr. Mary Luti from Andover-NewtonTheological School in Boston was the guest speaker.

    Burns Hinck (Dinker to those who live north of Tongue Mountain) was honored recently as the Volunteer of The Year at the Silver Bay Association for his time and expertise given to instruction at the cliumbing wall over the last few years. Burns is a local contractor whose hobby is mountain and rock climbing.
