Privilege Of Floor

R. Meola, speaking for the Town Board, presented a Certificate to Clifton West and announced that Wednesday, August 26 will be known as Clifton J. West Day in honor of the outstanding work he has done for the Hague Historical Museum. Mr. West will turn 90 years old on that day.

Dottie Henry requested that the Town Board contact the Lake George Historical Society in order to bring the Lake George Monster back to his Òhome-watersÓ. Supervisor Belden was authorized to send a letter. Ms. Henry also provided a Hague Hoax Fest T-shirt and hat to Mr. Belden so he could present it to the Lake George Supervisor.

Jim Neal informed the Board that the LGPC authorized an additional $20,000 for stormwater grants. Each town will be eligible for up to $5,000 in preparation. He suggested that Hague contact LGPC to apply for a grant.

Bid Openings

One bid was received for the chipper in the amount of $810. The Board passed the motion to accept the bid.

Committee Reports

Assessor

SBA filed a grievance requesting Hague Town assessments be removed. They are represented by legal counsel.

Mr. Lawrence has a filed an Article 78 against the Town requesting his property taxes be reduced by $1,000,000. The Town feels that the property is not over-assessed and will turn the matter over to the Town Attorney.

Building & Grounds

The Board thanked Peter Foster for his beautiful landscaping job at the old Town Hall.

Fire Department

The Steak Roast was a big success, as was the play Grease, held at Silver Bay. The APA has given the O.K. to go ahead with the new building.

Highway

The old sanders and plow were delivered to the County facility for auction. Mr. Bothe requested that the Board look into a used grader in Bolton Landing. M. Fitzgerald will look at it; Supervisor Belden will check into the price.

Recreation & Promotion

There will be an Antique Show on September 26

The Star Fleet will hold the North American Race on September 26 to October 1. There should be spectator boats available for people who are interested in a close view.

Transfer Station -Income for the month of July was $3,944.76.

Youth

Carol & Marty Brown have certified 24 area youths so far in boating safety. They were thanked for the generous donation of their time in this effort.

There will be a bike rodeo on August 19.

Unfinished Business.

Rotary Club is sponsoring a trip to Up Yonda Farm for local youth on August 19. Resolution #70 of Ô98 was rescinded and replaced with Resolution #72 of Ô98. This was to correct the original application to borrow money per the bankÕs request. The motion was passed.

On August 19, at 6 p.m., there will be a public informational meeting on Stormwater at the Community Center.

The lease with Stan Burdick for the Cartoon Museum has been extended to October 15 due to a delay by the lawyer in filing necessary papers to NYS.

Communications and Petitions

The Home Bureau requested the use of a section of the Town Park for a tag sale on May 29, 1999. This was approved by the Board.

There was a change work order at the Landfill because of additional solid waste that was discovered under the Construction & debris. The total change order is not to exceed $104,000, 90% of which will be covered by bond money.

New Business

The Town received a request from Vi Clark to use the Community Center for ballroom dancing lessons. They would be held one evening/week for 2-4 hours each session. Supervisor Belden will contact her with the fee schedule for renting the building.

The appointment of the new member to the Board of Assessment Review will be postponed to the September meeting.

The Town Board will request a meeting with the LGPC on September 26.

R. Meola requested the Town enforce regulations where there are violations of the Zoning Ordinance. A workshop should be set up, followed by an informational meeting that the public would attend to air their ideas. R. Patchett and R. Meola will work together and present their ideas to the Board at the next Town Meeting. . . mjk
